On this day in 2007, Yakubu scored a 28-minute hat-trick for Everton in a 3-0 win over Fulham in the English Premier League.

The Nigerian arrived at Goodison Park from Middlesbrough in August of that year for a reported £11.25 million and made an immediate impact. After breaking the deadlock six minutes into the second-half, Yakubu netted his third 28 minutes later after latching onto a pass from former Bafana Bafana midfielder Steven Pienaar.

Yakubu scored four Premier League hat-tricks (the most by an African), two of which came in his time at Portsmouth and the last of which came in the colours of Blackburn Rovers.

In total, he scored 33 goals in 107 appearances across all competitions for Everton and would end his career with 95 Premier League goals in 252 matches.
