Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha has praised Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) target Eberechi Eze, who has impressed at Crystal Palace this term.
Attacking midfielder Eze has caught the eye in his debut season in the Premier League after joining Palace from English Championship club Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in August 2020.
Eze set-up Zaha as Palace secured an emphatic 5-1 win over West Bromwich Albion in a league match which was played over the weekend.
“[Eze] is a quality player, he literally glides through people,” Zaha, who netted twice against West Brom, told the club’s official website.
“It’s nice [having] someone on your wavelength and that’s a tricky player as well because I know half of the stuff he’s going to do so I just position myself to get the ball. It’s been a joy.”
The NFF are known to be keen to persuade Eze to switch his allegiance to Nigeria having been born in Greenwich, Greater London to Nigerian parents.
Eze, who has played for England’s under-20 and under-21 national teams, is eligible to play for the Super Eagles.
The 22-year-old signed for Palace on a five-year deal; the fee was reportedly around £17 million following a successful 2019/20 season in which he scored 14 goals for QPR in the Championship.
Eze scored his first goal for Palace with a direct free kick, in a 4-1 home league win over Leeds United last month.
He has recorded two assists and a goal since he joined Palace and he will be looking to continue his good form when Palace take on Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
