VIDEO: Jonathan Mensah leads Columbus Crew to MLS Cup

Ghanaian centre-back Jonathan Mensah captained Columbus Crew to 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup glory on Saturday.

Crew defeated Seattle Sounders 3-0 to clinch the MLS Cup title for a second time following their success in the tournament in 2008.

Mensah was one of two Black Stars in the starting eleven for Crew, with Harrison Afful also involved from the onset. the Ghanian right-back teed up Lucas Zelarayan for the opener in the 25th minute. Derrick Etienne doubled their lead shortly before Zelarayan completed his brace eight minutes from time.

Ghana’s Emmanuel Boateng was an unused substitute for Crew, as was Nigerian striker Fanendo Adi and former Morocco youth international Youness Mokhtar.
