Al Ahly have announced that their head coach Pitso Mosimane has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The South African tactician was appointed by Al Ahly in October 2020 and managed to guide them to treble for the third time in the club’s history.
The Red Devils lifted the Egyptian Premier League title, Egyptian Cup and CAF Champions League trophy during the 2019/20 season.
Al Ahly released the following statement:
“Al Ahly’s head coach Pitso Mosimane tested positive for COVID-19.”
“Mosimane will follow the Ministry of Health’s protocol for COVID-19 and will be self-isolated at home,” a club statement read.
This means Mosimane will miss Al Ahly’s Egyptian Premier League match against Ghazi El Mahalla which will be played on Friday.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly also provided an update on striker Marwan Mohsen, who has been out nursing an injury.
“Al Ahly striker Marwan Mohsen continued his rehabilitation program aside of the team’s full training on Wednesday at El Tetsh Stadium.”
“Mohsen trained at the gym, as part of his recovery program to join the full training once again.”
“The Red Eagles are currently preparing to face Ghazl El Mahalla SC in the Egyptian Premier League on Friday,” another statement read.
