Cameroon B head coach Ndtoungou Mpile is unhappy with the team’s preparations for the 2021 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals.
The tournament is set to be hosted by Cameroon between January 16 and February 7.
Nicknamed the Intermediate Lions, Cameroon’s B team is in Group A along with Zimbabwe, Mali and Burkina Faso.
The 2020/21 Cameroonian Elite One season yet to start and this has affected the Intermediate Lions’ preparations for continental competition.
“We’re supposed to take the best players to Chan but where are we supposed to get them from when there’s no championship?” said Ndtoungou as per BBC Sport.
“I’m not yet serene over the team’s current situation.
Competitive football has been halted in Cameroon since May 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We had elaborated a plan hoping that the league will kick off but we’ve had to change everything and it’s just an ugly situation,” he added.
“No one is happy with this situation. We’re just trying to limit the damage because right now we’re not where we want to be.”
Cameroon will be making their fourth appearance in the CHAN finals and they have never won the tournament.
