Egyptian giants Al Ahly have confirmed that they have had contact with South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns over a transfer for Uruguayan forward Gaston Sirino.
The 29-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Cairo, which would see him reunite with former Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane.
Ahly have tried to land Sirino before, with ‘Downs revealing that the clubs could not reach an agreement earlier this year regarding a transfer.
Fresh reports have emerged regarding new contact between the Red Devils and the Brazilians over the South American player, with Ahly’s head of transfers, Amir Tawfik, confirming the talks, as per KingFut.
“Sirino has always been a transfer target for Al Ahly,” Tawfik said. “There has been contact before, and if anything happens, the club will officially announce it.
“We are talking with the Sundowns officials, and if any serious development occurs, we will begin negotiations with the player then.”
An added complication to a transfer for Sirino is that Ahly would have to release a foreign player to make room for him in their squad, though Angolan winger Geraldo is reportedly nearing an exit.
