South Africa international Percy Tau’s return to Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2021 is possible, according to RSC Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany.
The versatile attacker is on loan at Belgian football powerhouse Anderlecht from the Premier League strugglers, Brighton, who have confirmed plans to bring Tau back for the second half of the current season.
The Seagulls are currently flirting with danger, as they are placed two places above the relegation zone on the Premier League standings, having failed to win their last six matches.
Brighton manager Graham Potter sees Tau as a potential answer to their troubles and Manchester City legend Kompany is ready to accept the possible departure of one of his key attackers.
“Yes, he could leave, and it will be up to the remaining players, and others, to make up for that departure,” Kompany told Walfoot.
“Am I leaving the door open for him to stay? Even if there is a one percent chance that he will not leave, yes I will leave the door open.
“Anything can happen with the Covid, especially administratively, we know.”
The 26-year-old player has yet to feature for Brighton since arriving from South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018 due to work permit issues.
Kompany praised Tau after the left-footed player grabbed an assist in Anderlecht’s recent 2-0 win over Beershot in a Belgian Pro League game on Sunday.
“I did not hesitate for a second to start him because I know very well that he always gives everything,” he added.
“Percy gave everything and worked well, I saw a good relationship between the attacking players. Okay, he didn’t score today, that’s how it is.”
Tau has played 18 matches across all competitions this term for Anderlecht and netted five goals in the process.
