Ghana international Jeffrey Schlupp will have a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury during Crystal Palace’s clash with Sheffield United.
The left-sided player opened the scoring as Palace secured a 2-0 win over Sheffield in an English Premier League game at Selhurst Park over the weekend.
Schlupp was substituted by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) target Eberechi Eze, who scored the second goal of the match.
The 28-year-old’s teammate Christian Benteke, who was born in Kinshasa, DR Congo, was also forced off the pitch after picking up an injury.
“Benteke got a kick in the first half – we think it’s a dead leg which usually doesn’t develop into anything long term,” Hodgson told the club’s official website.
“Jeff Schlupp is more concerning as it is definitely a muscle injury. He felt a hamstring pull.
“It looks like we’re going to miss him for a while and that’s unfortunate because he’s been doing very very well for us.”
It is Schlupp’s second injury this season having suffered a knock during Palace’s 3-1 win over Manchester United in a league game in September 2020.
The German-born player has played 15 matches in the league this term and netted two goals in the process.
