Everton winger Alex Iwobi finally broke his Premier League goal scoring drought as Everton claimed a 2-1 win over Wolves at Molineux Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Iwobi, 24, powered home Lucas Digne’s cross in the sixth minute for his first goal since scoring against Wolves at Goodison Park on the 1st of September 2019, with 500 days having passed between the Nigeria international’s two Premier League goals for the club.
Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti reserved special praise for Iwobi and Digne’s link-up play in the aftermath and told BBC Sport: “We had a different approach without Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin. We played more to attack the flanks with Iwobi and Digne and it worked well because the first goal was a fantastic combination.
“Michael Keane is unbelievable with his head. His goal helped us to stay in a good position on the table.”
Victory moved Everton up to fifth on the league standings, four points off top spot ahead of Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa.
