Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ended his wait for a goal with a brace in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Aubameyang, 31, hadn’t scored a league goal since mid-December but after a frustrating first-half in which he missed a gilt-edged chance, the Gabon international finally got back on the scoresheet with a thunderous finish following a brilliant pick out from Thomas Partey.

Bukayo Saka doubled the Gunners’ lead at Emirates Stadium before Aubameyang completed his brace with a close-range finish from a Cedric Soares’ cross.

The Gabon international has now scored five goals in 17 Premier League appearances this season, eight in 20 matches across all competitions.

Victory moved Arsenal up to 10th on the league standings ahead of their trip to Southampton next Tuesday.
