Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru has completed his transfer to Turkish football powerhouse Galatasaray SK.
The speedy winger has re-joined the Lions from French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco on a six-month loan with an option to buy.
Onyekuru made it clear that he is hoping to stay for a longer period with Galatasaray having helped the club clinch the Turkish Super Lig title and Turkish Cup in the 2018/19 season.
“First of all, I am very happy to be here again. I want to have a season where we can achieve the goals of the club, with plenty of goals and make everyone proud,” Onyekuru told the club’s official website.
“I’m hoping to stay here longer. I spoke to our president, vice president and technical director, and they expressed their confidence in me. As always, I’m willing to give 100 percent.
“As I said before, my goal is to achieve more success with the club, win more trophies and make our fans proud. Hopefully, we will win both the league and the Turkish Cup.”
This is the 23-year-old’s third loan spell with Galatasaray having spent the 2018/19 season with the Lions on loan from English club Everton FC.
Onyekuru joined Monaco from Everton in a permanent deal in August 2019 and he was loaned out to Galatasaray midway through the 2019/20 campaign.
The former KAS Eupen player struggled for game time at Monaco this season – making just four Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco and he has since re-joined the Lions.
Onyekuru has netted twice in 12 international matches for Nigeria.
