Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru has paid tribute to Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim, thanking the veteran tactician for the faith he had in the player.
Onyekuru made an impressive return to the Turkish Super Lig on Friday evening, scoring both of Gala’s goals in a 2-1 away win over Gaziantep.
It was the Nigerian’s first competitive action since September last year, having been frozen out of the first team at Monaco.
Onyeuru admitted he is not physically at his peak due to the lack of first-team action, but was able to make such an impressive contribution due to Terim’s influence.
“To be honest, I’m not 100% physically ready. However, there is a very important factor besides this,” Onyekuru told Galatasaray’s official website.
“The name of this factor is Fatih Terim. The trust and support he gives me makes me feel better, necessarily.
“Likewise, I think I performed well with the support of my teammates in the field and the support of our assistant coaches. It will get better with each passing day.”
The 23-year-old is now in his third loan spell at Gala and has scored 19 goals for the club in 57 appearances across all competitions.
