Senegal international Sadio Mane looks set to miss Liverpool FC’s clash with Brighton Hove and Albion on Wednesday.
The Reds are set to play host to South Africa international Percy Tau’s Brighton in an English Premier League match.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has appeared to rule Mane out of Liverpool’s clash which will take place at the Anfield Stadium.
The reigning CAF African Footballer of the Year missed Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday due to a minor injury he picked up in the win against Tottenham Hotspur last week.
When asked if Liverpool’s injury situation had remained the same on Tuesday Klopp replied: ‘Yes, it’s as it was.’ when speaking on Metro.
Liverpool defenders Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have been ruled out for the remainder of the current season due to long term injuries, while forward Diogo Jota is also out injured.
Mane will now be aiming to be fit for Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
Regarded as one of the best players in the world, Mane is a key player for Liverpool having netted 10 goals from 28 competitive games this season.
Mane finished fourth for the 2019 Ballon d’Or, and in the award for the Best FIFA Men’s Player he ranked fifth in 2019 and fourth in 2020.
The 28-year-old helped Liverpool reach back-to-back UEFA Champions League Finals in 2018 and 2019, winning the latter.
Mane also finished as the league’s joint-top goalscorer in the 2018/19 season, winning the Premier League Golden Boot.
He then helped end Liverpool’s 30-year league title drought by winning the 2019/20 Premier League.
