Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could welcome Sadio Mane back for Sunday’s Premier League showdown at home against leaders Manchester City.
The Senegal international has missed the club’s two most recent league matches through injury, but Klopp hinted in build-up to this weekend’s fixture at Anfield that Alisson, Sadio Mane and Fabinho could all be involved.
The German said: “Alisson feels much better. Sadio and Fabinho will be in parts of team training today [Friday] so we’ll see.”
Liverpool have struggled for consistency in their title defence with key injuries having plagued their campaign. More than anything, their defence has been left exposed with long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and most recently Joel Matip forcing Klopp to play the likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at centre-back.
Guina international Naby Keita also made a return to training this week after recovering from an ankle injury, but it is unclear when he will be ready for action.
Mane, 28, has scored 10 goals in 28 appearances for Liverpool this season.
The Reds head into Sunday’s match in fourth spot on the league standings, seven points behind the Cityzens.
