Senegal international Mbaye Diagne has shown he is capable of scoring goals for West Bromwich Albion.

This is according to West Brom manager Sam Allardyce with the lanky striker having played three English Premier League games for the Baggies and bagged an assist.

Diagne joined West Brom in January 2021 on loan until the end of the current 2020/21 season from Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray.

“If we put quality balls into the opposition box then the big man Mbaye seems to be able to get on the end of them,” Allardyce said, as per Express and Star.

“He has those two ruled out at Tottenham because he just went a little too early with his run. He just needs to read those situations a little better.

“But it was encouraging. Mbaye is looking like if we get balls into the right areas with the right quality, he’ll get chances to score – he showed that,” he added.

“It is positive. But until we stop the goals going in at the other end then life is going to be increasingly difficult for us.”

Diagne made his debut for West Brom on January 30 in a 2-2 draw against Fulham, as he came on as a substitute at half-time.

The former Club Brugge player assisted Matheus Pereira for West Brom’s second of the match on February 2.

West Brom are set to face Manchester United in a league game on Sunday.
