Lamontville Golden Arrows leapfrogged Orlando Pirates on the DStv Premiership standings after securing a win on Friday evening.

Arrows thrashed Stellenbosch FC 3-1 in an encounter which took place at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Western Cape.

Michael Gumede grabbed a brace for Arrows, while the other goal was netted by Pule Mmodi and Stellenbosch’s consolation goal was netted by Junior Mendieta.

The win took Arrows to third place on the league standings level on points with second-placed SuperSport United, while Stellenbosch remained 12th on the log.

As a result, Pirates, who are set to face Botswana champions Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Confederation Cup game on Sunday, slipped down to fifth place on the league log.

Meanwhile, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila claimed a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United in a match which was played at the Harry Gwala Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday evening.

The only goal of the match was netted by Thabo Mnyamane, whose strike ended Tshakhuma’s 10-match winless run in the league.

The victory saw Tshakhuma moved up to 14th place on the league standings, while Maritzburg slipped down to the 15th spot.
