Zamalek SC drew 0-0 with Algerian side MC Alger in their opening CAF Champions League Group D match on Friday night.
The Egyptian giants created several goalscoring opportunities in the first-half, but they could not convert them.
Zamalek veteran Mahmoud Shikabala was introduced at half-time as the White Knights looked to break the deadlock.
However, the hosts were frustrated by the Green and Red’s resolute defence which was led by Nabil Saadou.
Ultimately, the match ended in a 0-0 draw with the two teams sharing the spoils at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
Meanwhile, Simba SC caused an upset when they edged out AS Vita Club 1-0 in their opening Champions League Group A game on Friday night.
The first-half was dominated by DR Congolese giants, but they were denied by Simba goalkeeper Aishi Manula, who made some smart saves.
The score was 0-0 during the half-time break and Simba were awarded a penalty 13 minutes into the second-half at the Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte in DR Congo.
Mutshimba Mugalu made no mistake from the spot-kick as he hit the back of the net to seal a 1-0 victory to Simba over Vita Club.
