AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy is hoping to end Swallows FC’s unbeaten run when his team meets the high-flying Birds in a 2020-21 DStv Premiership match at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

Usuthu go into the fixture on a four-game winning run across all competitions and having climbed up to seventh spot on the league standings, seven points behind Swallows as a result.

Swallows haven’t lost in 22 matches since losing to Pretoria University in a GladAfrica Championship match in March last year. The Soweto club are yet to taste defeat on their return to South Africa’s top-flight and sit five points off top spot.

“Swallows are a very good team, they are unbeaten for a reason they haven’t lost a single game in the league yet, one of the best teams in the league,” McCarthy said

“I haven’t been able to get three points from the best teams in the league and it doesn’t make the task any easier for us. It’s a difficult task but not impossible because they just are another football team, they just have a good coach and big players.”

“We have to respect them but we don’t have to fear them, and vice versa,” he added.
