Ademola Lookman has expressed his delight for Nigerian international Josh Maja after he scored a brace for Fulham in his full Premier League debut this past weekend.

The 22-year-old, who is on loan at the Cottagers from Girondins de Bordeaux, netted in the 48th and 65th minutes as the London club claimed a surprise 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Lookman, who has strong Nigerian links through his familial heritage, was happy for Maja and praised the team effort put in by Fulham as they continue to fight against the prospect of relegation.

“It was a well-deserved three points. We dominated large parts of the game and created lots of chances,” Lookman told BBC Sport.

“I’m happy for Josh Maja as well. Everyone knows he can score goals. We need to score goals.

“I’ve said before if we stick together and put the ball in the back of the net, we’ll win games. We showed that [against Everton].

“We kept believing. At half time we said we’ll do the exact same thing in the second half and we scored twice.

“Our defence kept it strong towards the end of the game and we saw it out. It gives the team a boost of confidence and we’ll take that into the next game.”

Fulham boss Scott Parker was also full of praise for the Super Eagles man: “Fantastic tonight in terms of scoring two goals. The first move was brilliant and he is there to tap in and the second is a striker’s instinct to knock one in from the rebound off the post,” he stated in a press conference.
