On this day in 2012, Mamelodi Sundowns beat Powerlines FC 24-0 in a Nedbank Cup round of 32 fixture at GWK Stadium in Kimberley.

Hlompho Kekana, Nyasha Mushekwi and Richard Henyekane scored seven, six and five goals respectively on a historic day in the Northern Cape province.

The result bettered AmaZulu’s 16-0 victories in 1976 and 1986 for the biggest winning margin in South African football history.

Sundowns wiped the floor with their fourth tier opposition and led 10-0 at half-time before adding a further 14 goals in the second-half.

The Brazilians went on to reach the Nedbank Cup final that season, but lost 2-0 to Tshwane rivals SuperSport United.
