CR Belouizdad and Al-Hilal Omdurman played out to a 1-1 draw in a 2020-21 Caf Champions League match at Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 in Algiers on Friday evening.
The result does both teams’ ambitions of reaching the knockout stages no favours as they remain in third and fourth place respectively in Group B after three matches, having both yet to win a game. Group rivals TP Mazembe and Mamelodi Sundowns will meet in Lubumbashi on Saturday.
The Blue Wave opened the scoring as early as the third minute when Mohamed Abdel Raman Yousif hit the back of the net for the Sudanese visitors.
Benin forward Marcellin Koukpo levelled matters on the cusp of half-time with a back-heel finish and the White and Reds had a chance to win the match in second-half stoppage time after being awarded a penalty.
Hamza Bellahouel stepped up to the spot but failed to hit the target as the Algerian club were ultimately left to rue a catalogue of missed chances on the night.
The two teams will face off in the reverse fixture scheduled to take place at Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman on the 16th of March.
