Al Ahly, Zamalek and TP Mazembe all dropped points on match-day three of the 2020/21 CAF Champions League group stage on Saturday.
Goals from Glody Lilepo and Ricky Tulenge helped Vita Club hold Egyptian champions Al Ahly to a 2-2 draw at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
The draw saw current Champions League holders, Al Ahly remain third on Group A standings, while Vita Club are placed second on the table.
Al Ahly’s Egyptian rivals, Zamalek succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Tunisian football powerhouse, Esperance de Tunis at the Stade Olympique de Rades in Tunisia.
As a result, Esperance are placed at the top of the Group D standings and Zamalek are placed third on the table.
Meanwhile, TP Mazembe succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a Group B match at the Stade du TP Mazembe in DR Congo.
Therefore, Sundowns opened a seven-point lead at the top of the Group B standings, while Mazembe remained second on the log.
Algerian side CR Belouizdad were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman in another Group B encounter which was the only game that was played on Friday.
Al Hilal’s Sudanese rivals, Al Merreikh dropped points at home when they drew 0-0 with Tanzanian champions Simba in a Group A game on Saturday
In South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs brushed aside Angolan side Petro de Luanda 2-0 in a Group C match, while Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca beat Guinean champions 2-0 at home in another Group C game.
Lastly, Algerian side recorded their maiden win in Group D when they secured a 1-0 away win over Senegalese side Teungueth.
