Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed the reasons why he likes to play along with fellow Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.
Iheanacho has rediscovered his scoring form in recent weeks having scored in back to back English Premier League games against Burnley and Brighton Hove and Albion.
The 24-year-old has netted seven goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes thus far this term.
Iheanacho enjoys playing along with former England international Vardy, who won last season’s Premier League Golden Boost last season, rather than serving as his back-up.
“It’s a bit difficult for the manager because he needs to use everybody, and then we have to have an impact,” Iheanacho told Independent.
“I need to wait for my time but I’m confident with how things are going right now. I just have to keep working hard and keep taking the opportunities.
Vardy, 34, is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and he has netted 12 goals in the competition thus far this season.
“I like playing with him [Vardy] because he can run in behind and gives me options, or he can get the ball and go deep,” he added.
“I like playing with him but when he’s not around I can play by myself. I’m happy with the goals that are coming now. I feel good.”
Iheanacho’s Leicester will host Sheffield United in a league game on March 14.
