The Gambia national team coach Tom Saintfiet has named a provisional 50-man squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and DR Congo.
The Scorpions are top of Group D with seven points from four matches – level with second-placed Gabon, while DRC (six points) and Angola (one point) complete the quartet.
Saintfiet will trim the squad to 25 in the coming days before going into camp on March 22 ahead of the home match with the Palancas Negras on March 25, before rounding off the qualifiers with an away match to the Leopards in Kinshasa on March 29.
The Scorpions need a maximum of four points from their two matches to secure qualification for a first-ever AFCON finals. They could book their ticket as early as the first game against Angola: a home win for The Gambia combined with a win for Gabon over DRC would do the trick.
