Ahead of their CAF Champions League Group A clash with AS Vita this coming weekend, Simba SC coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa has explained how his side will be taking an in-depth look at their opponents.
Simba will host the DR Congo side in Dar es Salaam for a Matchday 5 fixture on Saturday afternoon, with the Tanzanian hosts needing only to avoid defeat in order to secure progression into the quarterfinals for just the second time in their history.
With preparations hampered by the travel of players back and forth due to the recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the French coach has decided to lean more heavily on information gathering and analysis rather than time out on the training field.
“Given the limited time we have to be with my full squad I have decided to organise a class with all my players and my assistants,” Da Rosa is quoted by IPP Media.
“In that class, we will be looking at various videos of matches that AS Vita have played in the group stage, including the one against us, so we can remind ourselves where we are and what we need to do.”
He added, “Personally I have done that and there are things I have discovered, but now I want to show my players so that they understand what to do in the 90 minutes of the game against AS Vita.”
Da Rosa has promised a different approach to the one his side used in a 1-0 away win over the DRC side in Kinshasa on February 12.
“From the training programme I have set, one thing I know we will have to devise other ways of stopping them and we will not approach them as we did in the first meeting when we beat them away,” he explained.
“My plan is to attack them from the first whistle and we must create chances to score, so we can finish them earlier enough.”
The other Group A match on Saturday sees Al Merrikh host Al Ahly in Omdurman.
