Riyad Mahrez scored an important goal for Manchester City as they booked their spot in the 2020-21 Uefa Champions League semi-finals.
The Algerian winger was on target from the penalty spot in a 2-1 win (4-2 on aggregate) over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening.
Mahrez, 30, held his nerve to score what could prove to be a crucial goal in City’s hopes of winning a first Champions League crown.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both started Liverpool’s match at home to Real Madrid at Anfield but despite dominating the second-leg, the Reds were ultimately bundled out of the competition by the record 13-time champions who claimed a 3-1 aggregate win.
On Tuesday, Chelsea lost 1-0 to Porto but advanced onto the final four with a 2-1 aggregate win while Paris Saint-Germain knocked defending champions Bayern Munich out of the competition.
Bayern won 1-0 in Paris thanks to a Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting header, but were ultimately beaten over two legs. The Cameroon international had also scored in the reverse fixture in Germany.
