The 2020-21 DStv Premiership season is yet to reach its conclusion but already two major transfer moves have transpired.
Cape Town City announced this week that goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh will join Dtuch Eredivisie side FC Groningen at the end of the season.
Leeuwenburgh, 27, was eager to make a return home and will do so three years after joining the Citizens from Ajax Amsterdam.
The shot-stopper, who will link up with Arjen Robben in northern Netherlands, has featured 86 times for City and played an integral part in their run to the 2018 MTN8 crown.
“Cape Town City and Dutch Eredivisie side FC Groningen have agreed to terms over the transfer of goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh,” the club statement read.
“Leeuwenburgh will spend the rest of the season with the Citizens and finish off our 2020-21 campaign.”
Furthermore, Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly completed the signing of Pavol Šafranko from Romanian club Sepsi OSK for a deal worth around €700 000 (R12-million).
According to KickOff.com, the 26-year-old Slovakia international will join the Brazilians ahead of next season.
