Mamelodi Sundowns remain in charge of the DStv Premiership title race after they played to a 0-0 draw away to AmaZulu in one of four matches played across South Africa’s top flight on Wednesday 21 April.

The result in Durban saw the Brazilians extend their undefeated league status to 21 games and remain six points clear at the head of the table – while also ending a hot streak of six straight wins for their opponents.

AmaZulu then lost their grip on second place slip when local rivals Golden Arrows won 1-0 away to SuperSport United in an evening game, with a goal from Nduduzo Sibiya and a strong goalkeeping performance from Sifiso Mlungwana seeing Abafana Bes’thende to victory.

At the same time, Kaizer Chiefs slumped to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Cape Town City, with the visiting team claiming a second successive win and consolidating their place in the top eight thanks to goals from Tashreeq Morris and Bradley Ralani.

Wednesday also had Black Leopards extending their winless run to seven matches and remaining rooted to the bottom of the log when they were held 0-0 at home by Stellenbosch FC.

The DStv Premiership will continue with a full round of fixtures this coming weekend, 23-25 April, headlined by a heavyweight clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

DStv Premiership results, Wednesday 21 April

Black Leopards 0-0 Stellenbosch
