Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim has compared Egyptian player Mostafa Mohamed to club legend Gheorghe Hagi and says the former Zamalek attacker is a “player we trust”.
The 23-year-old Pharaohs forward joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan in February this year and made an immediate impact, with five goals from his opening five league games, before enduring a scoring drought after his brace against Erzurumspor.
He then missed two games after contracting Covid-19, but made his return to action this past Saturday, coming off the bench to score the winner in Gala’s 1-0 triumph at Antalyaspor.
After the match, Terim compared Mohamed’s start in the gold and red to that of Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi.
“When I first came to Galatasaray in 1996, we signed Hagi; and he scored two goals on his debut. We try to use whatever new signing we have in a correct, honest and proper manner. Mostafa is also a player we trust,” Terim explained, as quoted by Gala’s website.
“He missed important matches. Maybe if he were there, maybe they would’ve been different,” he added.
Galatasaray are six points off the pace of Turkish Super Lig leaders Besiktas and will next be in action on Wednesday 28 April with a home match against Konyaspor.
