Swallows FC played to a 16th draw of the season and fourth successive 1-1 stalemate on Friday evening.

The Dube Birds came from behind to earn a point away to Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium. The match served as the opening game of a full round of 2020-21 DStv Premiership action this weekend.

Following a rather uneventful first half, the game came to life after the break and the Team of Choice opened the scoring four minutes into the second stanza as Travis Graham scored for the first time in South Africa’s top-flight since 2014.

Swallows hit back on the hour mark through an unlikely source of their own as Sifiso Hlanti powered home a left-footed finish for his first goal in Dube Birds maroon and white.

Neither team were able to find a winner on the night, with a point a fair outcome in the end.

The result moved the Team of Choice four points clear of the relegation zone while the Dube Birds climbed above Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates and up to fourth.
