Egypt international Ahmed Elmohamady has expressed his delight with Aston Villa’s season in the English Premier League so far and hopes they can finish in the top 10.
The 33-year-old versatile player, who can operate as a full-back and winger, has been used mainly as a bit-part player by Villa manager Dean Smith this season.
Having begun playing in England in 2010, Elmohamady reflected on his career which has seen him turn out for Sunderland AFC, Hull City and now Villa.
“I am satisfied with my career, which extends over 11 years, seven seasons in the Premier League and four in the Championship,” Elmohamady said on King Fut.
“I have three or four games remaining to join the 200 club in the Premier League, and this for me, as the first Egyptian player to reach this feat, is a proud achievement.
“The most memorable games of my career is when we played big teams. This season I have a wonderful memory of my appearance in the Liverpool match, even if I only played a few minutes, but we managed to win 7-2.”
Villa are currently placed 10th on the Premier League standings and Elmohamady is determined to help his side cement its place in the top half.
“We have improved a lot this season in many aspects and we started strongly which made us more comfortable. We have difficult matches ahead and we want to end the season among the top 10,” he added.
The former ENPPI star also discussed the performance of his African compatriots Mohamed Salah, Riyad Mahrez and Hakim Ziyech, who are playing for Liverpool FC, Manchester City and Chelsea respectively in England.
“Mohamed Salah, in the last four or five seasons, made a big difference for Liverpool and won the Premier League and the Champions League.
“As well as Riyad Mahrez, who won the Premier League and is steps away from competing in the Champions League final and Hakim Ziyech who is playing his first season with Chelsea,” he added.
