Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe can learn a great deal from his Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka according to English Premier League legend Joe Cole.
This comes after Pepe scored a stunning goal in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion in a league game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Cole, who won three Premier League titles with Chelsea during his playing days, stated that Pepe should stop going missing in games.
“He plays in fits and starts Pepe. We’ve got a great angle up here and we were watching him, and he was so lacklustre,” Cole was quoted as saying on Teamtalk.
Saka, who was born in 2001 in England to parents of Nigerian descent, has netted five goals and recorded three assists in the Premier League thus far this season.
Having been criticized for being inconsistent, 25-year-old Pepe has scored six goals and registered one assist in the Premier League so far this term.
“Compare him to Saka on the other side who was full of energy and was vibrant. Pepe was wandering, after 30 minutes we were questioning what he was on the pitch for,” Cole added.
“But he has got the quality and that’s why you pay £70m for him because he can do things like that. You just need to see it more often.”
Arsenal are set to face Cole’s former side, Chelsea in the London Derby clash on Wednesday.
