Moussa Marega has revealed two things he and new club Al Hilal have in common.
Marega was officially unveiled by the Saudi Arabian club earlier this week and will complete a move to Riyadh at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.
The Mali international’s future was the subject of a lot of speculation with Turkish giants Fenerbahce amongst those having expressed their interest in signing the 30-year-old on a free transfer.
Marega’s contract with Portoguese club side Porto will run its course in June with the burly forward to bring five years at Estadio do Dragao to an end.
He joined the Dragons from rivals CS Marítimo in January 2016 and has scored 72 goals in 190 appearances during his time at the club, winning two league titles.
“In 1991, I was born in the French city of Les Ulis and in the same year, Al-Hilal won their first continental title,” Marega said during his unveiling.
“These two stories continue to excite and they crossed again in 2020 when Al-Hilal won a hat-trick [domestic treble] in Saudi Arabia and I did the same in Portugal (with Porto).
“And now in 2021, my next destination is Saudi Arabia.”
Marega has signed a three-year deal at the club.
