Stuart Baxter could make a surprise return to Kaizer Chiefs.
According to iDiski Times, the Amakhosi could make their fifth coaching change since Baxter left Naturena for Turkey in 2015 as pressure continues to mount on Gavin Hunt and his technical team.
Chiefs have struggled this season and are on course to finish outside the top eight for the second time in the last three seasons.
The Glamour Boys currently occupy 10th spot on the league standings, having won just two league matches in their last 15 following a 1-1 draw with Swallows FC on Wednesday.
Hunt was appointed as Ernst Middendorp’s successor ahead of the 2020-21 season following Chiefs’ final day heartbreak which saw them miss out on the league title to Mamelodi Sundowns.
While he’s been able to lead them into the Caf Champions League quarter-finals amid a transfer ban, Chiefs’ poor run of results in the league has put pressure on Hunt who arrived at Naturna with a glowing pedigree.
Baxter was the last Chiefs coach to win a trophy and led the Amakhosi to two league titles during his time at the club.
The 67-year-old is currently a free agent following a brief spell with Walsall in England’s League Two. He was sacked by Indian side Odisha earlier in February after making a reckless “rape” comment during a post-match press conference.
