The 2020/21 DStv Premiership action continued in midweek with Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates registering home wins.

Sundowns were crowned champions after they secured a 3-1 win over SuperSport United in the Tshwane Derby clash on Wednesday.

Goals from Lebohang Maboe, Aubrey Modiba and Themba Zwane inspired the Brazilians and they will now lock horns with Swallows FC on Saturday.

While Teboho Mokoena netted SuperSport’s consolation goal with a stunning shot in an encounter that was played at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Meanwhile, Pirates boosted their ambitions of finishing in the top two positions in the league by claiming a 1-0 victory over AmaZulu FC at Orlando Stadium on Thursday.

Frank Mhango scored the solitary goal that left fourth-placed Bucs four points behind second-placed AmaZulu and Pirates will now take on TS Galaxy on Sunday.

Lastly, Kaizer Chiefs’ woes continued as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday.

Leonardo Castro handed Chiefs the lead, but a brace by Tiklas Thutlwa inspired Lepaords to a win which boosted Lidoda Duvha’s hopes of avoiding relegation from the elite league.

Eleventh-placed Chiefs will now face Lamontville Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy in their last two matches and they need three points to secure safety from relegation.
