Chipolopolo Zambia captain and midfielder Lubambo Musonda has been ruled out of this Junes’ three-match friendly tour due to injury.
The midfielder of Polish club Slask Wroclaw was one of the first two foreign-based call-ups to report for the pre-June friendlies camp that kicked off in Lusaka on May 27.
Russian-based midfielder Klings Kangwa of Arsenal Tula is the other foreign-based call-up who joined camp last Thursday.
“Lubambo is out due to a knee injury. It was a recurrence of an injury he sustained back at his base in Poland,” FAZ spokesperson Sydney Mungala told AF.
Lubambo is the second player ruled out of the three-friendly tour against Senegal, Sudan and Benin.
Midfielder Clatous Chama of Tanzanian side Simba SC has withdrawn from the tour following the death of his wife on May 29 in Zambia.
Chama’s brother and Zesco United defender Adrian Chama, who is part of the Zambia team, has also left camp to be by his brothers’ side but will return after his sister-in-law is put to rest.
Meanwhile, Mungala said other eleven foreign-based players on the provisional 36-member list are due to start arriving over the next 48 hours.
Zambia will kick off its tour against Senegal on June 5 in Thies before visiting Benin on June 8 in Cotonou and then wrap-up the dates against Sudan on June 11 at Omdurman.
