Lusaka Dynamos on Wednesday returned to third place after a 1-1 home draw with Green Buffaloes at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
The result keeps Dynamos in the chase for a debut continental qualification position with two games now left for Wedson Nyirenda side to seal a top four CAF Inter-Club spot.
FAZ Super League leaders Zesco United so far are the only club to secure one of the two CAF Champions league spot while the other one plus the third and fourth CAF Confederation Cup slots are yet to be decided.
Striker Emmanuel Chabula ended a seven-game drought when he gave Dynamos a one-nil half-time lead with a 14th minute goal to scored his sixth of the season.
It looked like Dynamos were heading for the win until defender Paul Banda’s 87th minute handball handed Buffaloes a lifeline.
Friday Samu stepped up to successfully convert the spot-kick and fortunately for him a full-stretched Dynamos goalkeeper Monga Ndala was inches short of the ball that squeezed in on the near post to see ninth placed Buffaloes amass 42 points.
Dynamos rise from sixth to third tied on 47 points with Kabwe Warriors who have been displaced to number four on goal difference after 32 games played.
They are now six points behind second placed Zanaco who have three games left with the latter trailing Zesco by eight points.
