There is still something to play for – for some teams – on the final day of the 2020-21 DStv Premiership season on Saturday, 5 June.

Mamelodi Sundowns have already been crowned league champions for a fourth successive season and record-extending 11th time in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era.

The Brazilians go into matchday 30 having lost only once all season and will end the campaign with an unbeaten away record, which is a first in the PSL era.

AmaZulu will finish second following a terrific run of form under Benni McCarthy’s tutelage while Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows are geared to claim third and fourth place respectively.

SuperSport United, Swallows FC and Cape Town City are also guaranteed a top-eight finish while TS Galaxy will face Kaizer Chiefs in a straight shootout for eighth spot at Mbombela Stadium. Baroka FC still have a slim chance to upset the apple-cart but whoever wins in the Mpumalanga province is likely to qualify for the MTN8.

DStv Premiership League Table

Bloemfontein Celtic and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila are safe from relegation while Black Leopards have already been relegated and will play in the GladAfrica Championship next season.

Either Maritzburg United, Stellenbosch FC or Chippa United will compete in the promotion/ relegation playoff later this month.

Chippa are favourites to end in 15th spot. The Chilli Boys go into Saturday’s round of fixtures two points behind Stellies and three adrift of Maritzburg who also have a better goal difference as compared to the Eastern Cape club.

Furthermore, Bradley Grobler is set to win the golden boot award. The SuperSport United striker has scored 16 goals this season, three more than Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile with one game to go.
