Napsa Stars are keeping their fingers crossed on the availability of their Zambia international defender Luka Banda for next Saturday’s trip to face league leaders Zesco United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The Chipolopolo Zambia defender suddenly fell ill on June 2 during halftime of Napsa’s relegation zone home clash against Lumwana Radiants that his side lost 2-1 at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
“Luka has Malaria and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital during the second half but was later discharged,” Napsa media officer Gwen Chipasula said.
But Napsa will be without defender Amos Simwanza who was sent-off in the 61st minute of the match against Lumwana.
Chipasula also disclosed that veteran striker Emmanuel Mayuka, who has been out with a knee injury since May 20, is still recovering but could not say if the 2012 AFCON winner would be fit in time for the trip to Zesco.
Napsa, who have lost their last five league games, are currently battling to avoid relegation and sit third from bottom on 36 points with three games left to play.
