Ex-Zambia and El Merreikh striker Jonas Sakuwaha has given a brief insight into why Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic settled on the Sudan friendly.

Chipolopolo will wrap-up their June three-match friendly tour on June 11 against Sudan at Omdurman.

Sakuwaha spent four season’s in Sudan between 2010 and 2014 and inspired El Merreikh to the 2011 league title when he scored 18 goals.

“Think the reason Zambia are playing Sudan in a friendly match is because they are a good team which has played together for a long time. They have the same mentality as Tunisia because they are all North African teams who love passing the ball and are very quick,” Sakuwaha told AF.

“Remember, the coach also coached Al Hilal so he knows Sudan football very well.”

Micho is using the tour to prepare for this Septembers’ 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup Group B dates.

Chipolopolo will host Tunisia on match-day-two of the Qatar Group B qualifiers after kicking off their race to Doha with an away date against Mauritania in Nouakchott.

Meanwhile, Zambia began their June friendly tour with a 3-1 away loss to Senegal on June 5 in Thies.

Chipolopolo then drew 2-2 with Benin in their penultimate friendly played on June 8 in Cotonou.
