Ivory Coast international Jeremie Boga would fancy a move to French giants Olympique Marseille.

This is according to Marseille’s club president Pablo Longoria with the Ligue 1 side reportedly searching for a replacement for Florian Thauvin.

The French attacker recently secured a transfer to Mexico’s Monterrey Tigers from Marseille and the latter are reportedly keen to replace the player.

Marseille-born Boga, who has been linked with Italian club Atalanta BC and Ukrainian giants FC Shakhtar Donetsk in recent weeks, has become a key player for Italian Serie side US Sassuolo.

“No, we never talked about it, because the first rumours were circulated once the season was over,” Longoria told Foot Mercato.

“So, I don’t know if Olympique Marseille has been in touch with his agent. But what I do know is that as a Marseillais, Jeremie follows Olympique Marseille, he is a supporter of the club.

“Throughout the season, we talked about the matches. Even though he left for Chelsea at a very young age, I think he would not be insensitive to interest from Olympique Marseille, if there is one.

“But I don’t know anymore and we haven’t discussed it.”

The 24-year-old, who was nurtured in the academy of English giants Chelsea FC, scored four goals and registered two assists in 27 Serie A games for Sassuolo during the 2020/21 season.

Boga has been capped by France at under-16 and under-19 levels, but he committed to playing for the Ivory Coast internationally in April 2017.

He has since played twice for Ivory Coast.
