Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing versatile Lyon left-back Maxwel Cornet.

According to the Sun, the Premier League club are interested in the Ivory Coast international but not at the £20million price Lyon have reportedly demanded.

Cornet has excelled in his new left-back role at the French club, having previously played in a more advanced position.

The 24-year-old scored two goals and assisted another five in 36 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon last season.

Cornet has made over 250 appearances for Les Gones since 2015 and has played 22 times for the Ivory Coast, having switched his international allegiance to his birth country in 2017 after representing France at youth level.

Leeds managed a ninth-place finish in their first season back in Premier League football.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team won their last four games of the 2020/21 campaign and will be eager to build on that momentum, starting with a tough away assignment at Manchester United to kick-off the new season.
