Relegation-battling Indeni are likely to be without their head coach Mwenya Chipepo for their must-win FAZ Super League survival decider away to Kabwe Warriors on June 26 after FAZ slapped him with an indefinite suspension.
FAZ has suspended Chipepo from the bench after he alleged that referees were corrupt in a post-match interview on June 13 after Indeni’s 0-0 away draw against Forest Rangers.
“The action of your coach is in total contravention of Article 13 (1) a, e, and m of the FAZ Constitution and the Ethics Code. These utterances came barely a fortnight since we issued a circular to clubs to desist from attacking match officials in public,” FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala stated in a letter to Indeni,
“In the meantime, your Head Coach is suspended from performing his functions until this matter is conclusively adjudicated on by the relevant judicial bodies.”
Chipepo has been summoned to appear before the FAZ disciplinary committee on June 23, three days before his teams’ trip to Kabwe.
Fourteenth placed Indeni and Nkana, who are just below them at number 15, are candidates for the remaining relegation spot and tied on 41 points heading into this weekend’s final games of the season.
One of them will join relegated Lumwana Radiants, Napsa Stars and Kitwe United.
