Lassina Traore will play for Shakhtar Donetsk next season.

The Ukranian giants reportedly forked out €10 million to sign the Burkina Faso international from Ajax Amsterdam. He has penned a five-year deal with the club.

Traore scored 12 goals in 31 first-team appearances for Ajax’s first-team and was a regular throughout the course of last season, but the arrival of Sebastien Haller in Amsterdam pushed him down the pecking order.

The 20-year-old famously scored five goals in a 13-0 win over VVV Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie back in October. He played a direct role in eight goals, assisting a further three for the league champions.

“Shakhtar is a big club with a great coach from Italy. This was the main reason behind my decision to come here,” Traore said.

“If you are at Shakhtar, that means you’re good enough. I am ready to prove myself and help the team.”
