Defending COSAFA Cup champions Chipolopolo have been moved from Group B to Group A after the tournament was revised on Monday evening from a three to two group event.
This follows the second withdrawal from Zambia’s Group B when Madagascar joined Comoros in opting out of the 2021 COSAFA Cup due to Covid-19 concerns.
The reshuffled format now sees Chipolopolo redirected to Group A where they will now play Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho and hosts Bafana-Bafana South Africa.
Malawi remains in Group B where they welcome former Group C teams Mozambique, Namibia, guest side Senegal and record six-time COSAFA Cup champions Zimbabwe.
Chipolopolo, who were scheduled to play Madagascar in their opening Group B game on July 10, will now face Lesotho on July 8 in a lunchtime kickoff at Wolfson Stadium.
Zambia meet Eswatini in their second Group A fixture on July 10 and play Botswana in their penultimate match on July 13.
Twenty four hours later, Chipolopolo and Bafana Bafana clash in a Group A climax.
The top two sides from the two groups qualify to the semifinals that will be played on July 16 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
South Africa is hosting the 20th edition of the COSAFA Cup at Nelson Mandela Bay from July 6-18.
