JS Kabylie coach Denis Lavagne has backed his team to emerge victorious in this coming weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup final against Raja Casablanca.

The Algerian and Moroccan teams will meet at Stade de l’Amitie in Cotonou, Benin on the evening of Saturday 10 July, with JSK seeking their first continental triumph since winning the CAF Cup in 2002, while Raja were CAFCC champions as recently as 2018.

“There is the last game left, that’s where everything will be played out. We will try to prepare it well, play it and try to win it because it would be a shame to have taken this course to lose at the last moment,” said Lavagne, as quoted by Africa Top Sports.

The Frenchman admits that his side can be considered underdogs due to Raja’s strength, but insists that a one-off game could bring any result.

“It will be the best team that we will meet in this competition, so it will be a real test for us. Raja may be a Champions League level team, I think there is a difference between CAF teams,” he explained.

“We are going to fight against a big opponent, but in a match anything is possible. We are capable of achieving the feat.”

Kick-off for the CAFCC final in Cotonou is scheduled for 21:00 CAT.
