Chipolopolo stars Enock Mwepu and Fashion Sakala are set for a British reunion when their respective new clubs’ meet in a pre-season friendly in a fortnight’s time.
Midfielder Mwepu is scheduled to travel to Scotland with his new club Brighton & Hove Albion to face striker Sakala’s side Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox on July 24.
The game is Brighton’s first confirmed 2021/2022 pre-season fixture.
“Both clubs are waiting on guidance from the government as to whether or not supporters will be able to attend the friendly,” brightonandhovealbion.com stated.
“The match will come at the end of Albion’s pre-season trip to Scotland, as preparations begin for their fifth consecutive Premier League campaign.”
Mwepu and Sakala are heading into their debut campaigns in Britain following their off-season moves from Austrian champions RB Salzburg and Belgian club KV Oostende respectively.
Meanwhile, Sakala is set to finally join Rangers in training following an administrative delay.
Sakala has already missed the Scottish champions’ first pre-season friendly played on July 5 when they beat Patrick Thistle 1-0 away.
But the Zambian striker could see some action as early as July 10 in Rangers’ second friendly away to Tranmere Rovers.
Rangers also have another two friendlies dates prior hosting Mwepu’s Brighton when they host Arsenal at on July 17 and away to Blackpool on July 21.
