South Africa have added three players to their squad for the ongoing 2021 Cosafa Cup tournament in Gqeberha.
The host team has been hit by Covid-19, which has seen several players as well as head coach Helman Mkhalele and goalkeeper coach Lucky Shiburi forced into self isolation.
To boost their player options, Bafana Bafana have summoned Baroka’s Vusi Sibiya, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lebohang Maboe and Victor Letsoalo from Bloemfontein Celtic.
In addition, Vela Khumalo has been brought in as assistant to acting caretaker coach Morena Ramoreboli, while Thembalethu Moses has also joined as acting goalkeeper coach.
Despite their disruptions, SA have racked up successive wins to sit at the top of Group A. Bafana first beat Botswana 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kagiso Malinga on July 6 and followed that up with another 1-0 win over Eswatini, thanks to a strike from Sphelele Mkhulise, on July 8.
Their next Cosafa Cup match is against Lesotho on July 13 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
