Chipolopolo defender Kabaso Chongo is suspended for Tuesday’s 2021 COSAFA Cup penultimate Group A match against Botswana at the ongoing tournament in South Africa.

The TP Mazembe defender collected his second yellow card of the tournament on July 10 during Zambia’s 1-0 Group A loss to Eswatini when he was cautioned in the 19th minute.

Kabaso was subsequently substituted in the 65th minute and replaced by Zesco United midfielder Kelvin Mubanga.

The defender picked up his first yellow card on July 8 during Zambia’s 2-1 loss to Lesotho with another first half caution in the 19th minute.

Meanwhile, midfielders Benson Sakala and Dominic Chanda including defenders Simon Silwimba and Zachariah Chilongoshi are a card away from suspension should they be cautioned in the Botswana match.

Meanwhile, FAZ spokesperson Sydney Mungala said Zambia is injury free heading into the Botswana game on July 13.

Defending champions Chipolopolo are bottom of Group A on zero points after two games played with as many matches left to play.

Botswana are third on 3 points from two matches tied on points with fourth placed Lesotho while second placed Eswatini and leaders South Africa have 6 points each.
