Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane fears that he could be sacked if the defending champions lose to Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Champions League final this weekend.
The Red Devils head into this weekend’s clash in Casablanca as favourites to claim a record-extending 10th Champions League crown.
Mosimane, 56, is on the cusp of back-to-back Champions League titles after leading the Club of the Century past Zamalek in last year’s all-Egyptian final.
But such are the standards at the club, that the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss fears he might be axed if Al Ahly fail to beat the Amakhosi, who will be playing in their first final, on Saturday.
“Here if you don’t win the Champions League and you don’t win the league, you might as well try and look [elsewhere]. So that’s why I am here, I am on the edge. I could be in a comfort zone in SA,” Mosimane recently told the SAFJA as reported by KickOff.
“I faced that in South Africa also in terms of the league because I think when you don’t win the league at my former employers [Sundowns] you might face the sack, let’s be honest,” Mosimane, who won the 2016 CAFCL title with the Brazilians, added.
Kick-off at the Stade Mohammed V in Morocco on Saturday is set for 9pm CAT.
